Wiffiti Application Captures the Conversation via Mobile, Web, and Out-of-Home Screens
Cambridge, MA (Vocus) August 20, 2008
LocaModa, a technology company providing an interactive media platform that connects digital out-of-home, mobile and web networks, and TouchTunes, the largest out-of-home interactive entertainment network and the official digital jukebox of US Air Guitar and a sponsor, joined forces last week at the US Air Guitar Championships in San Francisco to provide text-to-screen and web capabilities connecting fans in the venue with those watching from home. Using LocaModa’s Wiffiti application, fans were encouraged to cheer on the competitors while also connecting with each other.
Vicki Saunders, TouchTunes’ Director of Music Marketing and Promotions, commented on the synergy of the two companies: “Wiffiti definitely resonated with the crowd and pumped up the energy level. For the 21-34 demographic, the interactivity of text messaging is second nature, which makes it a perfect complement to our digital jukeboxes at events like this.”
From the fans (“We want Hot Lixx!,” “We LOVE Bettie B. Goode!”) to the flirts (“Hey, Bartender, what’s your name?!”) to the competitors themselves (“Yo, I’m gonna WIN this thing!”), the results did not disappoint. Hundreds of messages flooded the two huge projection screens during each performance in the Regency Grand Ballroom. The screens were also visible live on the web, pulling home viewers and enticing comments via Twitter to appear on event’s screens in real-time.
“It was cheeky but intense… and certainly amusing. Of course there were a few token Spinal Tap references. What Air Guitar event would be complete without them?”
“It was fun to see the personality of the audience really emerge on the screens,” said Jayne Karolow, LocaModa’s Director of Community, who attended the event, “It was cheeky but intense… and certainly amusing. Of course there were a few token Spinal Tap references. What Air Guitar event would be complete without them?”
LocaModa’s Wiffiti application can be used as part of an existing digital signage loop or as a stand-alone application.
